“Housing for All by 2022″ Mission – National Mission for Urban Housing
a) Slum rehabilitation of Slum Dwellers with participation of private developers using land as a resource;
b) Promotion of affordable housing for weaker section through credit linked subsidy;
c) Affordable housing in partnership with Public & Private sectors and
d) Subsidy for beneficiary-led individual house construction or enhancement.
Nearly 50 per cent of the state's population lives in urban areas, making its requirements quite different when compared to the rest of the country. The proposal will be brought before the cabinet soon for approval, said a senior official.
The policy will have a self-certification, that the beneficiary does not own a house anywhere in the country. If the declaration provided by the beneficiary is proved 'false', there is also provision for punishment.
The amount of contribution by a beneficiary to get a house under the scheme would be lower compared to the Centre's policy. Officials said that the government would give subsidy on the home loan interest.

Under the Credit Linked Interest Subsidy component, interest subsidy of 6.5 percent on housing loans availed upto a tenure of 15 years will be provided to EWS/LIG categories, wherein the subsidy pay-out on NPV basis would be about Rs.2.3 lakh per house for both the categories. Central assistance at the rate of Rs.1.5 lakh per house for EWS category will be provided under the Affordable Housing in Partnership and Beneficiary-led individual house construction or enhancement. State Government or their para statals like Housing Boards can take up project of affordable housing to avail the Central Government grant.
The government has identified 305 cities and towns for constructing homes for the urban poor under the 'Housing for All by 2022' mission.These cities and towns are spread across nine of the 15 states that have signed memoranda of agreement (MoA) with the ministry of housing and urban poverty alleviation for the programme.
