Indian Railways launches Janani Sewa, optional catering Scheme on pilot basis

 Union Railways minister Suresh Prabhu on 8th June 2016 in New Delhi  launched three passenger service initiatives—a Janani Sewa for mothers, optional catering in Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains on a pilot basis and a children’s menu on trains.

Under Janani Sewa, hot milk, hot water and baby food—to begin with—will be available at 25 railway stations including New Delhi, Mumbai, Howrah, Chennai, Surat and Lucknow. Originally, the service was meant to have been introduced on trains.

The decision to introduce this facility was taken after a mother last year tweeted to the minister that due to a delayed train service she was facing a lot of problems feeding her child as she was unable to find milk on the train.

The Indian Railways also launched an optional catering services project. To begin with the project will be taken up on a pilot basis for 45 days and will be available only on the Secunderabad-Pune Shatabdi Express and Mumbai Central-Hazrat Nizammudin Rajdhani Express.

The catering charges of Rs.340 for 1 AC and Rs.295 on 2AC/3AC would be deducted from the cost of the Rajdhani ticket if a passenger opts out of the catering service. Similarly a Shatabdi ticket would be cheaper by Rs.260 and Rs.220 for executive and chair car categories, respectively.

The railways said that catering services will be included by default and passengers have to specifically “opt out” from the mandatory food option.

To make train travel a happier experience for children, the railways has launched items like french fries, noodles, burgers and meal combos through IRCTC. These items can be ordered by the passengers through the e-catering website of IRCTC, a specified phone number, SMS, mobile app or a four digit all-India toll free number—1323.

Younger Brother/Sister Wastes Lot of Time in Social Media Advising Him

younger brother/sister wastes lot of time in social media and neglects his studies. Write a letter to him/her advising him to develop a habit of book reading

Dear Abhinay,
I hope your studies are going on perfectly fine.I am pretty sure that you will acquire good percentage of marks in it. I heard from mother and father that you wastes lot of time in social media and neglects your studies.I would like to motivate you to actively develop a habit of book reading
Social media has become a way of life nowadays.it is a highly entertaining and informative medium.Social media has become a way of life nowadays.it is a highly entertaining and informative medium. Many people believe this can be a good thing, but society has shown the many negative consequences it has on our lives. Social networking has become widely used in the young generations today. However, young people are beginning to be obsessed, spending hours and hours of their day on social networking sites and becoming addicted. As the increase of usage rises, so does the evidence that this excessive use is damaging for their mental health; leading to lowered self-esteem, anxiety and even depression.

The amount of education you get from it is very less compared to reading books.Good reading habit makes way for a better understanding of one's experiences however social media mostly indulges the cravings of people rather than what is good for them.Most of the time is spent in searching what others are doing, which can be well spent in reading which at least adds knowledge to your own life.

 Hope you agree with me. I would meet you soon and we'll further discuss it.Pass on my regards to father and mother.

Yours loving,
Avinash

Write a Letter To Editor About Deforestation.

Ravinder Singh,
Plazza Enclave

 Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to express the difficulties caused by deforestation.
 Deforestation is the permanent destruction of forests in order to make the land available for other uses.Deforestation is considered to be one of the contributing factors to global climate change.Deforestation has many negative effects on the environment.Seventy percent of the world’s plants and animals live in forests and are losing their habitats to deforestation.Tree roots anchor the soil. Without trees, the soil is free to wash or blow away, which can lead to vegetation growth problems.
About half of the world's tropical forests have been cleared (FAO) Forests currently cover about 30 percent of the world’s land mass.The cutting that does occur should be balanced by the planting of enough young trees to replace the older ones felled in any given forest. The number of new tree plantations is growing each year, but their total still equals a tiny fraction of the Earth’s forested land.

I request you to highlight this message through your newspaper. I also kindly request you to depute your reporter to do coverage of this issue in detail and help in tackling this issue.

Thanking you.
Yours truly.

Write a Letter to a Friend about Drug Addiction among Youngster

Write a letter to a friend about drug addiction among youngster

Karan Mehta,
Flat no-234
Pune

Mahesh Kumar,
Dangr Chikd
Pune

Dear friend  ,
I hope this letter finds you in good shape.How is everything with you? How are uncle and aunt? I am writing this letter to discuss the about drug addiction among youngster.The youth of our nation will eventually determine the country’s moral, political, and social persuasions. The youth of our nation has a massive responsibility.But now,we read in the newspapers that teens are being held for consuming drugs and most of them are usually aged between 17-20.The alarming rate of drug abuse has always been a problem and especially the increase of drug abuse among youngsters has had detrimental effects on the society..The educational system  nowadays is very competitive and lacks flexibility with lakhs of students appearing for few thousand seats. Again there is always a parental burden which adds to the pressure of making it big academically

The first few instances of drug use may be fun, but the behavior can quickly turn into substance abuse and addiction, and ultimately may necessitate an intervention or even rehab. Teenagers rarely consider the long-term damage they can do to themselves, their families and their communities.

.The most effective way of prevention alcohol and drug abuse is attention to children in families. They should feel care and their importance; then they would not need to assert themselves and to prove anything to others. Certainly, it is necessary to control them and to know their company, but this must be done very carefully without oppression. Parents should take an active part in their children’s life and having noticed any signs of the abuse, they must take the necessary steps. They can either talk to children or take them to a psychologist in order to explain them the danger. To make a conclusion, nowadays alcohol and drug abuse is a very significant problem, which becomes more and more acute. Young people start drinking and taking drugs gradually earlier, which leads them to crimes, car accidents and rapes.
I am also planning to visit Pune in the near future.I will let you know the dates so that you could manage to take out some time to meet me.

Your loving friend,
Karan Mehta

[1] 30%
[2]40%
[3]70%
[4]75%

Answer
1.[4]Let the number x be subtracted then,
17 - x = 1
 24- x    2
=>34 - 2x = 24 - x  => x = 10

2[2].Average = (10+15+20+25+30)=100=20
                          5                          5

3.[1]et the weekly income of Aand B respective be Rs.9x and Rs.7x and their expenditure be Rs.4y and Rs.3y
According to question
9x - 4y = Rs.200/------(1)
7x - 3y = Rs.200/------(2)
By solving of eq.(1) and (2)
x = Rs.200/-     u = Rs.400/-
So,sum of their weekly incomes = 9x +7x = 16x
= 16* 200 = Rs.3,200

4.[1]Relative speed of the Amen and Sumen  =  (11 – 10) km/hr = 1 km/hr

Distance covered in 6 minutes  = {(1/60 * 6)} km   = {1/10} km = 100 m

Distance between the Amen and Sumen = (200 – 100) m = 100 m.

5.[4] A * 30 + B * 40 = B * 80
             100       100         100
      => A * 30 = B * 80 - B * 40
               100          100       100

     =>A * 30 = B * 40
              100        100
    =>3A = 4B
Required percent = 3/4 * 100 = 75%

[1].4
[2] 5
[3]6
[4]10
[5]7

5.What is the least number to be added to 2600 to make it a perfect square?
[1]1
[2]5
[3]3
[4]9
[5] None of these.

Answer1.[2]Let the man's age be 31x years and that of his son be 13x years.
According to the question,
31x  + 13x  = 2*44

=>44x = 88 => 88/44 = 2
Son's age = 13x
= 13*2 = 26 years

2.[2]Speed[1] = 50 miles/hour    Time[1]= 2 1/2  hour = 5/2 hour
 =>Distance1 = Speed1 × Time1 = 50×5/2=25×5=125 miles
Speed[2] = 70 miles/hour    Time[2] = 1 1/2 hour = 3/2 hour
Distance[2] = Speed2 × Time2 = 70×3/2=35×3=105 miles
Total Distance = Distance1 + Distance2 =125+105=230 miles

3.[1]SI= P*R*T
              100

           = 64728 * 10 *7
                       100
      = Rs. 45309.6
4[2].Let the speed of the stream be x km/hr. Then,

Speed downstream = (15 + x) km/hr,

Speed upstream = (15 - x) km/hr.

  30       +             30         =  4 1/2
(15 + x)        (15 - x)

900             =   9
225 - x2           2

9x2 = 225

x2 = 25

x = 5 km/hr.

5[1]50 *50 = 2500
51 *51 = 2600
Least  number to be added
= 2601 - 2600  =1
